I am a Jeweller and metalworker. In my metalwork I primarily work in sheet copper which is folded to create spiralling structural forms. The technique is one I invented during my degree and developed during my MA. The sheet is not cut or broken in any way. I have sold pieces to the Science museum in London where they are part of the permanent Mathematics collection.
The symmetrical pieces start from a square and the asymmetrical a rectangle. The forms are straight line structures capable of producing compound curves that are part of an iterated function system. The forms are beautiful as they reflect the mathematics inherent in nature.
I love patination the permanent colouring of the metal surface. The pieces can look hundreds of years old or bright and vibrant. I enjoy working with non ferrous metals and find their flexibility and ductility rewarding.
I would be happy to take commissions to produce any of these pieces in Silver or Gold.
